The technology is commercialised by licensing to companies in the Pharmaceutical and Industrial Biotechnology area.
ProteoNic is a growing entrepreneurial company, with headquarters and labs located at the Bio Science Park in Leiden, The Netherlands.
The company has recently completed a financing round and is currently expanding its business development and R&D departments.
The Vacancy
The company’s Business Development efforts are focussed on the world wide commercialisation of ProteoNic’s UNic™ technology through licensing to biopharma and biotech companies and Industrial enzyme producers. Growing market demand requires the expansion of ProteoNic’s Business Development team with a (Senior) Business Development Director.
The focus will be on licensing the company’s technology platform to companies involved in manufacturing of recombinant proteins such as big pharma and biotech, as well as partnering with contract manufacturing organisations in the European and North American markets.
In this position as Business Development Director you are responsible for generating leads as well as contract negotiation. This requires substantive knwoledge of technology licensing and deal structuring in the pharma / biotech sector, as you will interact in depth with prospective clients.
The Business Development Director works closely together with the business development manager in North America and will report directly to the Chief Business Officer in Leiden.
The position requires approximately 35% of international travelling, in first instance mainly within Europe.
The requirements
For this vacancy we are looking for a Business Development Director with a solid track record in business development and in out-licensing of technology in the Pharma and/or Industrial biotechnology sector.
Further more; the ideal candidate has got the following expertise and background:
- MSc (WO) or PhD degree in Biotechnology, Life Sciences or related area. Complementary MBA is an advantage
- Minimal 10 years of working experience of which 5 years in business development within the (bio)pharmaceutical / biotechnology industry
- Knowledge of recombinant protein manufacturing is preferable
- Extensive network in (Bio)Pharma and/or Biotechnology Industry
- Good knowledge of (partnering with) CMO’s
- Experience with structuring deals
- Self-starting, high working standard, willing to work in a dynamic environment of an entrepreneurial company
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbally and written. Knowledge of Dutch is an advantage
- Willing to travel on a regular base
- Willing to move to Leiden region
